Collecting Food, Clothing And Toiletries, Can Be Dropped Off At Dozens Of …

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The pictures of the devastating flooding in Tennessee had a powerful impact on mark Wilson and his wife Inez.

“Watching the news and seeing some of the stories that did come out,I couldn’t believe the devastation that was taking place up there soI made it my goal to help out and provide relief where it’s needed,” said Wilson.

It started as just the Wilson’s but mark, who is also a St. Johns County deputy, says it quickly picked up momentum and businesses and other people in the community didn’t need convincing to pitch in and help.

Through word of mouth and social networking sites they worked to organize a drive to gather basic supplies that they will take to Franklin, Tennessee.

“Their homes were flooded over the rooftops in some cases, cars, clothing, everything that had are gone. those people are just trying to get by day to day and that’s what we’re here to provide those daily essentials.”

They are collecting food items, clothing and toiletries which can be dropped off at any St. Johns County fire station or other businesses spread through St. Johns, Clay and Duval counties.

Businesses like the Harley Davidson at I-95 and 16. And Terry Hamm Chevrolet in Jacksonville.

The Wilsons and other volunteers will personally drive the supplies the 10 hours to Tennessee Friday. But they will continue to make more trips for as long as supplies keep coming.

“In Jacksonville, we’re one hurricane away from destruction, you’d like to think if we came under a need like that people would help there to help us in our time of need as well.”

The Wilson’s are collecting toiletries, non perishable food items, water, clothing, toiletries and pet food. they can be dropped off at any of these locations,
